Values
Vision:
Abiding Savior is a Healthy Growing, Great Commission,
ABLAZE to know Christ - to make Him known Congregation.
We maintain and build excellence in our ministries
for the equipping of hearts and minds in South
County, St. Louis, and North Jefferson County,
all to the Glory of God.
Values which we aspire to demonstrate
consistently
because they are at the core
of who we are:
Biblical
Knowledge - Being inspired by God's
Word alone and together. We value building and
maintaining a fearless trust in God that we will
not be compromised or triangulated. We believe
that apart from the Word of God our understanding
of God's love and will for life is not possible.
We believe that healthy Christians are growing
in grace and sanctification as God blesses us
toward obedience. We hold to the confessions of
the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and are striving
to become who God wants us to be.
Spirit
Empowerment - Eliminating any thwart
to the Gospel. We believe we will ruin everything
unless it is driven by and aligned with God's
will. The Spirit uses the Means of Grace to bless
and guide His Church. Our worship, study, outreach
and ministries keep the means of Grace central
in all we say and do.
Family
and Children - We believe a healthy
church is one where kids want to bring their parents.
Programs and planning seek to keep families together
in service, study, fellowship and worship when
possible. Quality staffed childcare is provided
for everyone at church functions whenever possible.
Team Ministry
- Constructive and 360 degree evaluations help
us grow in effectiveness as we build up one another.
We believe in collaborative thinking and service
with each member of the body knowing, developing
and employing his or her unique gifts and strengths.
We defend reputations and support effectiveness
with honesty, allowing for people to serve in
an environment of creative encouragement and accountability.
We believe our family model for ministry honors
God.
Ministry
Alignment - We hold Goal setting, ministry
accomplishment and celebration as essential to
each ministry as we align our goals through unified
agendas. We serve to maintain and build our focused
efforts. Our open discussions about ministry areas
or issue are appropriate to individuals who live
under the cross and before the empty tomb.
Christian
Joy - We believe God wants his church
to be excited and to have fun together, enthused
and thrilled to know Him and make Him known. We
believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is too
precious and that our lives are too short not
to confront every factor that does not promote
joy. Our greatest joys are centered in God's greatest
gifts of life, forgiveness and faith.
Spiritual
Health - We believe that a spiritually
healthy Christian builds a spiritually healthy
church. The Great Commission - to make disciples
of all nations - moves us to do things because
of who we are in Christ Jesus. We believe that
a healthy church is a growing church and we are
committed to structures and guidelines that allow
us to function with efficiency and goal achievement.
We seek balance in work and play as evidence of
our growing faith.
Total Commitment
- We believe that buy-in is essential for effective
ministry. Support in prayer, finances, planning,
execution and achievement is an attitude that
is intentionally built and maintained. Factors
that yield the greatest commitment will be diligently
pursued. We are committed to the Glory of God
and the benefit of each brother and sister in
Christ.
