ERATE FUNDING YEAR 2012 RFB
There are so many exciting things to report!! God has truly blessed Abiding Savior this first quarter technology wise. We praise and thank God for his blessings!
The students continue to do amazing things with technology. (See some samples at www.aslsmra.blogspot.com.)
There are even bigger and better things planned! Thank you students!
Another blessing is the formation of a technology committee. This group of dedicated volunteers will meet periodically to discuss any major issues regarding technology. Reports of the meetings and the items discussed can be viewed at www.aslstech.wikispaces.com.
The first big issue the tech committee tackled was the purchase of new Smart boards for the remaining elementary grades. Through some hard work and anonymous donations we are excited to announce that we have secured the funding to purchase four more Smart boards for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades! God is good and so are his instruments of service here at ASLS! It is our goal to have the new boards installed by the time the students return in January. Thank you to all the volunteers!
More and more families are utilizing Fast Direct as a major communication tool. Grades can be viewed, quick notes sent to the office and better communication happens between home and school. Thank you families for learning and using this awesome tool!
Mrs. Montgomery recently completed an online course in which she created a technology plan for Abiding Savior. Some of the features of this plan are: our technology purpose and philosophy, current technology status, school technology goals and action plans to achieving those goals. (By the way, she got an A on the project!) Thank you Mrs. Montgomery! The entire plan can be viewed on our website.
Here is an excerpt from the “Purpose of Technology in our School” section:
Modeling use of technology and teaching essential technological skills is a vital part of our educational program. As educators, it is our responsibility to equip students with the ability to live, learn, and work productively in an increasingly complex and information-rich culture. With those goals in mind and a determination to improve, we strive to enable our students to utilize the gift of technology to glorify God and enhance their understanding of the world in which they live.
Overall, the focus of technology in our school is to improve student achievement and to spread the gospel.
Teachers are integrating technology more and more. Two quick examples are Mrs. Doering and Mrs. Johnson. They have started to give quizzes using the Smart Response System, providing the students instant feedback and more authentic teaching moments. All of the teachers here at ASLS have made a commitment to tech integration and are to be commended for their hard work and learning in this area. Thank you teachers!
May God continue to bless our school, students, teachers, families and leaders here at ASLS!
